What is SI Share?


SI Share is a carshare pilot program brought to you by Strategic Innovation, the innovation incubator of Toyota Financial Services. Vehicles can be rented by the day for a fair price. The rental process is completely contactless. Your smartphone acts as the key to the car. Insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and maintenance are all included!




How do I sign up for SI Share?


It's easy! Download the SI Share app from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Then, follow the onboarding instructions on the app. Once approved, you can start making your first reservation. How does SI Share compare to other carshare options?


SI Share is one of the most flexible vehicle solutions on the market. Insurance, 24/7 roadside assistance, and maintenance are all included in the price of your rental. Also, because we work with high-quality, reputable dealers and other operators, you can count on receiving a high-quality, reliable vehicle that you will appreciate.




What kind of vehicles are available to drive?


SI Share features a variety of high-quality Toyota and Lexus vehicles for our customres to drive. Our Vehicles are regularly cleaned and maintained to factory standards by certified dealerships. When you make a reservation, you'll be able to see the classes of vehicles available in your area.




What if you don't have vehicles near me?


If we don't have vehicles that you can get to now, please check back! We expect to grow quickly over the coming months. Text us at 469-840-1645 with your zip code and we can keep you informed about new locations that may pop up in your area. You can see a curent list of locations on our Home Page. Please let us know where you would like us to add vehicles.




How do I get keys to the vehicles?


No physical key needed! All you need to use SI Share is your smartphone and the SI Share app. Just walk up to the car and activate your reservatin with your smartphone to get going. Using the app, you can mak reservations and unlock or lock your behicle... all without having to pickup a key. We support most iOS and Android devices.




Do I have to pay for my reservations in advance?


When you make a reservation, we do charge your payment card for the estimated total. Check our cancellation poicy for more details.




How much can I expect to pay for SI Share?


We set up our pricing to be competitive to other carsharing services in the area. See our Pricing page for more information.




What kind of insurance am I covered by?


At a minimum, all SI Share vehicles are covered by comprehensive insurance, which covers damages up to $100,000 to other vehicles, property and parties in the event of an at-fault accident. This insurance does not cover the cost of your own medical expenses in the event of an accident – to ensure you are covered in the event of this situation, please consult your personal medical policy and/or personal auto insurance policy. In instances where you are operating the vehicle illegally (suspended license, under the influence, etc.), in a manner not allowed by the Terms of Service, or with negligence, you will bear the full cost of damage to SI Share vehicles as well as any damage to third parties not covered by the vehicle’s insurance policy. If you are involved in an incident with a vehicle, a damage fee of up to $2,000 may apply. In cases of theft or loss, a Driver may be held responsible for the entire cost of recovery or replacement. Drivers are not responsible for normal wear and tear on the vehicle. For more details, please see the Terms of Service.




Do I need to bring charging cables?


You should bring your own charging cables or AUX cables to keep your phone charged and the music going. If you require any other accessories we suggest that you bring them with you. Don't forget to take your accessories with you and delete/unpair your cell phone daa from the vehicle when you end your reservation!




Why am I seeing "suggested" vehicles that are not at the location I selected?


Vehicles that match your specific rental needs will appear at the top of the results list and will be marked by a green icon indicating "exact match." If there are other vehicles available nearby, they will be listed under exact matches in the results list and marked by a yellow icon for "suggested." SI Share wants to give you as many optios to choose from when making your reservation.




Do I have to drop the vehicle off at the same location?


Yes. The vehicle must be returned to the same location where it was picked up from. Fees may apply if the vehicle is not returned to the pick-up location.




What if I want to extend my reservation?


Click on "Edit Reservation" and choose the new return date and time. Your credit card on file will be charged upon confirmation of the extention. If someone else has the vehicle reserved during the time you wish to extend, you will be unable to extend. You can look for a different vehicle that may fit your needs for the new dates.




Am I allowed to use toll roads with the rental vehicle?


Yes. Toll tags are installed in every vehicle and tolls are covered by SI Share.




Am I responsible for fuel?


Yes. The vehicle should be returned with a full tank of gas.




Is there a milage limit on the rental?


There is no mileage limit, but the vehicle must remain in the United States.




What do I do if I'm involved in an accident?


Dial 911 if anyone has been injured. Collect the information from any other parties involved in the accident, including driver's license, insurance, and vehicle information. Take pictures of any vehicles involved in the accident. The insurance and registration cards for the rental vehicle are in an envelope in the glovebox or center console. You can also reference the outside of the envelope for guidance on what to do when you have been involved in an accident. When it is safe to do so, text customer support at 469-840-1645 and let us know you have been involved in an accident.

Can I add an additional driver to my reservations?


Unfortuneately, no. The person who makes the reservation is the only one authorized to drive the vehicle.




What are the eligibility requirements?


  • Drivers must be at least 21 years old
  • Drivers must be able to legally drive in the state of use
  • No more than two moving violations in the past three years (ex. accidents, traffic light violations)
  • No more than two cell phone or distracted driving violations in the past three years
  • No more than one moving violation and one accident in the past three years
  • No more than two accidents in the past three years
  • No major moving violations in the past three years (ex. driving on a suspended license, reckless driving)
  • No DUI or other drug-related driving violations in the past seven years
  • No more than three total moving violations in the past three years




How long does it take for an application to be approved?


We want to get you onto the road as quickly as possible. This can take as little as a few hours, but in some cases takes 2-3 business days. We will be sure to keep you updated throughout the process and will notify you as soon as you are cleared to drive.




How do I use a referral code that someone gave me?


When you get started on your SI Share registration, you will see a field that asks for you to enter an invitation code if you have one. Please enter your referral code there and we will be able to track it on our end.





Applying

How do I get started?


All you need to get started is to begin the registration process here. If you decide to join SI Share, you'll be asked to authorize a background check. Once you're approved, we'll grant you access to vehicles in your area and you'll be ready to go!




What are the qualifications for becoming a member?


In order to become a member, SI Share requires you: 1. Are at least 21 years old 2. Have held a driver license for at least 1 year, two or more if under 25 years of age 3. Have been licensed to drive in the state where you are applying for at least 1 year 4. Meet the following driving record and criminal background check requirements: - No major traffic violations in the past 3 years - No more than two of the following in the past 3 years: i) moving violations; ii) distracted driving violations; iii) accidents - No more than three vehicle-related violations in the past 3 years - No DUI or drug-related violations in the past 7 years - No felonies, violent crimes, sex-related, theft, or property damage offenses




How long does it take for an application to be approved?


We want to get you onto the road as quickly as possible. As long as you submit documents on time, your application time will most likely depend on the time it takes to get your background check cleared. This can take as little as a few hours, but in some cases takes 2-3 business days. We’ll be sure to keep you updated throughout the process, and will notify you as soon as you’re cleared to drive.




What if my application is taking longer than expected?


Some common issues we've seen that can delay the application process are: 1. Applicants have lived in a county that does not have an automated background check process. 2. Applicants have lived in more than one county over the past few years. 3. Applicants have omitted the documentation requested at the Confirmation stage of the SI Share registration process. 4. Applicants have not yet confirmed their email address or mobile phone number. If your SI Share application is taking longer than expected, please check the status of your application, make sure you have submitted the documents and completed the verifications requested by SI Share. Does SI Share store my credit card information or social security number?


No, SI Share does not store any personal credit card or social security information, and we work with PCI-compliant partners to ensure that your information is transmitted securely.
